In 1774 Paul Revere was given the assignment by Benjamin Franklin to make 13 oil cans, the type used to apply oil to horses' hooves. Inscribed in the bottom was the location of arms and funds to be used in the War of Independence from England. Now over 200 years later, antique dealers are being murdered for them. Why? What makes them so valuable? One of the prominent dealers in New York City, Whittier Ong, has one. He commissions Gordon Nunn, now retired from the N.Y.P.D. and a Private Detective, to find the others. In Nunn's hunt the killer seems to be one step ahead of him killing off dealers for the cans.
